About EurAV

EurAV is a non-profit organisation that focusses on media production and training to support individuals and groups in climate action initiatives, social integration and development of media literacy.

Social media is the digital 'lingua franca' of modern society. The main social media networks cross geographical barriers, cultural obstacles and language difficulties. Like any tool, social media presents great opportunities and great concerns. Social networks provide a democratic opportunity for groups and individuals to conceive solutions to our human family's challenges of climate change, inequality and poverty. However, recent events have shown us that social media is a two-edged sword that cuts both ways. The other side of the global conversation presents the potential for misinformation, cyber-bullying and fraud. At EurAV, we marry the provision of training in media production, facilitating online engagement, with media literacy training equip social media users with the skills to navigate their social media post feeds armed with fact-checking and algorithm training competencies that support positive mental health and clear, legitamate communication channels.

Community media is no longer just about the local radio station or the free newspaper that lands in your letterbox. Community broadcasting is every post, every tweet, every video clip that is shared on social media. Today, it's less about teaching people to create content and more about promoting the awareness of the potential power of their content to influence and the social responsibility that comes with being an 'influencer'.
